CaseReel Terms of Service

1. What CaseReel Is

CaseReel is a software service that helps users turn clinical case material — such as medical images, slides, and video clips — into short narrated videos. The service uses artificial intelligence to draft scripts, generate narration, and assemble video content from material you provide. By creating an account or signing in, you agree to these terms.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement to use CaseReel. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. Access is currently by invitation; we may suspend or revoke access at our discretion during this early period.

3. No Protected Health Information (PHI)

CaseReel is not HIPAA compliant and is not designed to receive, store, or process protected health information.

You agree that you will:

• Upload only de-identified content, with all patient identifiers removed (including names, dates, medical record numbers, faces or other identifying features, and any other identifiers under applicable de-identification standards).
• Not upload any content that would constitute PHI under HIPAA or equivalent information under other applicable privacy laws.
• Obtain any consents, authorizations, or institutional approvals required before uploading clinical material, even when de-identified.

You are solely responsible for ensuring the content you upload complies with this section. If we become aware of content that appears to contain PHI, we may remove it and suspend the associated account.

4. Your Content

You retain ownership of the material you upload and the videos you create with the service. You grant CaseReel a limited license to host, process, store, and display your content solely as needed to operate and improve the service — for example, to generate your videos, store them in your library, and serve them at links you choose to share.

If you mark a video as public or list it in the gallery, you are choosing to make it viewable by others, and you represent that you have the rights and permissions necessary to share it.

You are responsible for the content you upload and publish. Do not upload content that is unlawful, infringes the rights of others, or violates Section 3.

5. AI-Generated Content

CaseReel uses AI systems to draft scripts, synthesize narration, and assemble videos. AI-generated output may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing and approving all generated content before using or sharing it. Videos created with CaseReel are not medical advice, and nothing produced by the service should be used as a substitute for professional medical judgment, diagnosis, or treatment.

If you use a voice model of yourself or another person for narration, you represent that you have the necessary rights and consent to do so.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service in violation of any law or regulation, or of Section 3.
• Upload malicious code or attempt to probe, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the service or its infrastructure.
• Misrepresent AI-generated content as an actual clinical recording or event where doing so could mislead patients or the public.
• Use the service to create content that is deceptive, defamatory, or harassing.
• Resell or sublicense the service without our written agreement.

7. Fees

CaseReel is currently provided without charge during this early access period. We may introduce paid plans in the future; if we do, pricing and terms will be communicated before you are charged anything.

8. Our Intellectual Property

The CaseReel software, brand, and design are owned by CaseReel and its licensors. These terms do not grant you any rights to them beyond the ability to use the service as intended.

9. Service Availability and Changes

The service is under active development. Features may change, be added, or be removed at any time, and availability is not guaranteed. We may back up or migrate data as part of operating the service, but during this early period you should download and keep copies of any videos that matter to you.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CASEREEL AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CaseReel and its operators from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from content you upload or publish, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party — including any claim that content you uploaded contained PHI or was shared without required consent.

13. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, including for violation of these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 4, 10, 11, and 12) will survive.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the version identifier above and ask you to accept the revised terms before continuing to use the service. Continued use after acceptance of a revised version constitutes agreement to that version.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California.
